A Day in the Life at First State Residential Living as a Direct Support Professional ( DSP ):
Offer hands-on support and supervision to individuals to promote their safety, engagement, and overall well-being
Follow personalized care plans to help individuals reach their goals and build life skills
Support individuals with daily living activities such as hygiene, dressing, mobility, and preparing meals
Administer medications accurately while following all relevant agency guidelines and procedures
Keep the environment clean, safe, and well-organized by following health and safety standards
Document daily activities, progress updates, incidents, and other required reports with accuracy
Encourage community interaction by helping individuals take part in events, activities, and social opportunities
Communicate regularly and effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and external providers
Participate in scheduled trainings, team meetings, and ongoing professional development to stay up-to-date and compliant
Work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. 1 weekend per month required. (Weekend ONLY availability preferred.)
Interact with all individuals in a respectful, compassionate, and dignified manner
Qualifications for Direct Support Professional ( DSP ):
Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older
High school diploma or GED
Valid driver’s license with clean and acceptable driving record
Must be reliable, responsible, and compassionate
A minimum of at least six (6) months’ experience working in a similar role
Preferred experience working with and supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD)
Certified Nursing Assistant ( CNA ) applicants preferred but not required
